About the Designer.
WHITNEY MICHEL
Founded by The New York Times and Vogue featured designer Whitney Michel, Blackbird Theory emerges as her most personal creative evolution—born from a profound connection to the Catskills and upstate New York's transformative power as sanctuary.
Whitney Michel launched Blackbird Theory in 2025, bringing decades of acclaimed design experience to her most intentional work yet. Michel brings her visionary approach found through her British GQ, Vogue, Esquire, and The New York Times featured menswear brand Michel Men and her work styling high-profile clients like Tom Brady and Derek Jeter. Today, she brings that same visionary approach to designing private sanctuaries where thoughtful design fosters authentic connection; a powerful peace in the wild.
“[Whitney] is proof that even the smallest details can make the loudest statements. Michel’s work sits at the intersection of classicism and modernity, tradition and rebellion.”
— EBONY
“Her keen eye for style and inspiring ability to reflect on the past while staying totally modern, and true to her vision, makes her a force to watch.”
— Jim Moore, GQ’s Creative Director at Large for WWD Magazine
